February 2012 Artist Trading Card Kit

"Sweet Nothings" Valentine Kit

Here is the Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month that will be given FREE with each order during the month of February 2012. This kit comes with beautiful gold embossed Valentine paper filled with cupid/cherubs and gorgeous pastel flowers. As soon as it is back in stock, I will have it available for purchase. You will receive one of the 3 in. x 4 in. gold embossed papers, and a 3 in. x 4 in. piece of coordinating double-sided blush and peach rose paper (the bottom corner is folded to show the back side of the paper). You will see two different double-sided coordinating 1 in. x 4 in. strips of paper folded so you can see both sides; one of these will be chosen to be included in your kit. There is also a chipboard heart, and a white Prima Marketing flower that can be painted, misted, glittered, etc., to attach and match your creation. There are two different ribbon pieces shown in the photo. One of the ribbons is red with white hearts and is reversible. The other is white with small red glitter hearts; one of the ribbon pieces will be in your kit. We also have included a detailed silver heart charm with flourishes and a soft pink brads as shown in the photo. You can use the charm for your project, or a piece of altered jewelry. January 2012 FREE Artist Trading Kit of the Month - "Snow Bunny"

This kit is titled "Snow Bunny", a winter themed ATC Kit, that will be placed free in every order during the month of January 2012. It features 2 different 12 in. x 12. double-sided winter wishes themed papers with white, soft greys and soft hunter greens. There are two different 3 in. x 4 in. pieces included your kit. I have bent corners down on the paper to show the back sides of the cardstock. I chose 3 snowflake dies from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Create-a-Flake 3 snowflake dies to make snowflakes for this month's kit. I used my Spellbinder Cutting Machine to cut and emboss three different snowflake designs that you see in the photo. Two different snowflakes will be included in your kit. The paper snowflakes can be inked, painted, glossed, or glitter etc. to create an unique embellishment for your artist trading card. I have also chosen three different vintage winter/snow themed collage images for this kit; one of the three will be included in your kit. There will also be a piece of silver dresden foil trim, and a clear transparency with the words Snow Bunny as shown in the photo. Here is the December FREE Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month

December 2011 ATC Kit of the Month titled, "Christmas Holly-Day". One free with any order this month. You will also receive a bottle cap magnet that I made as a thank you Christmas gift from me to you.

OK, here is the Christmas ATC kit for December. A very festive holly themed Christmas kit. There are two 3 in. x 4 in. pieces of double-sided cardstock, and a 1 in. x 4 in. piece of coordinating double-sided paper all from the Kaisercraft December 25 collection. Also included is one of the 6 different die-cut December 25 Christmas tags (One shown that has a Santa on it). There is also an image of Christmas holly that has been stamped with black Staz-on ink to that the image does not smear if you would like to use markers or watercolors to color the image. There is also a piece of corrugated C-Fluted kraft paper that is great for painting, inking, sanding tearing and more. I have this paper available on the website as sheets or perfectly cut ATC cards. Also included is a piece of cream and burgandy Christmas music paper, a piece of green, red and gold color-twisted cord, a swatch of burgandy ribbon with gorgeous gold holly and flourishes, a silver holly charm with a silver brad to attach it with, and a few holiday sequins to match this kit. Lastly, an ATC blank white card and an ATC sleeve to placed your completed ATC into when you have finished your creation.

Artists Trading Cards I made with next month's kit

Here are my ATCs that I made yesterday. This kit is titled, "December 25th", using the paper and mini tags from the paper collection with the same name. Photo and kit contents will be posted on December 1st. Just place an order in December and the FREE Christmas themed, "December 25th", ATC kit will be placed in with your order. No special code necessary!

The only item I added to these ATCs that was not in the kit was the white ribbon. It needed something, so I thought that would be perfect. It almost looks like a stocking at a quick glance, but I made the above ATC using the mini tag that comes in the kit. Santa was cut from the left side of the tag.
I made this one with the holly stamped image that comes in the kit. I colored the holly with watercolor pencils, cut around it, then distressed and curled the holly leaves to make it pop off of the ATC. You'd be surprised what you can do with an image stamped on plain white paper. I used the double-sided paper bits that were cut from the 3 in. x 4 in. after I cut down my paper to 2 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. for my ATC background. I save every little piece! I love the new Corrigated ATCs! A kraft piece will be included in this. Paint it, ink it, distress it, stamp it...oh so many things to do with this! November 2011 Artist Trading Card free kit of the month

"Clowning Around" circus themed Artist Trading Card Kit that is given free with any orders throughout the month of November 2011.

I chose some circus paper from the GCD Studios Funhouse Collection; The World's Greatest and Sideshow. You will receive two 3 in. x 4 in. piece of cardstocks, one from each of those. There is also a piece of pastel fuzzy fiber that coordinates with the paper. Also, in this kit will be a clown image (there are 8 different clowns), a childs ticket, popcorn container image, a black & white clown hat that you can color to match your clown, and a miniature circus poster (there are 10 different ones). There is also a raffle ticket, a white or royal blue brad, 3 different colors of gem droplets, and a charm that is an elephant standing on a ball; perfect for your circus ATC. Lastly, a blank white ATC card and an ATC sleeve.

Below is my Clowning Around ATC. My ATC was made with only items in this kit, although I didn't use every item in the kit. You can save the extras for another ATC later. I cut out the orange banner from on of the 3 in. x 4 in. pieces and glued it to the chipboard that is included in the kit. I also used chipboard on the clown hat (that I colored to match my clown), and the triangle at the bottom of the card.

October 2011 ATC Kit

"Bates Motel"

This kit is themed, the "Bates Motel", a spooky Halloween ATC Kit, that will be given free with every order during the month of October. It features 3 different papers from the Little Yellow Bicycle Trick or Treat Paper Collection and their matching Epoxy Chipboard Buttons. There are 2 - 3 in. x 4 in. pieces and 1 - 2 in. x 4 in. piece in your kit. The back sides of the cardstock are shown by the bent corners on the paper. You will also receive one of the epoxy buttons with an orange piece of irish waxed linen and black netting to thread through the holes. You will get 2 collage photos - 1 of the Bates Motel and 1 of the Bates Motel sign as shown in the photo. Also included are 2 different coordinating ribbons. Either a black ribbon with white skulls or the white skeleon ribbon. Then one of the other 4 coordinating ribbon pieces located in the right bottom corner of the photo (a glitter lime, glitter orange, fuzzy trimmed orange or a fuzzy trimmed purple). Okay, here is the September Mermaid Beauty ATC Kit. It's still summer even though it is September, so I wanted to come up with a beachy type kit, hence mermaids. Here are the kit contents:

This kit comes with a 3 in. x 4 in. sea blue water/waves paper, a 3 in. x 4 in. peachy beach sand colored piece of Bazzill paper, a 3/4 in. x 4 in. piece of aqua blue glazed/glittered strip and a dark aqua 1/2 in. x 4 in. glittery strip. I will also include a 4 inch strip of embossed cardstock that coordinated with the whole kit (4 different ones are shown on the bottom left of the top photo). There will also be one mermaid collage image, a silver seashell charm and a little fish charm. Also included are some white and peachy pink seashells to embellish your ATC with. I have also included 2 different colored itty bitty brads and the words, "Mermaid Beauty" printed with a curly font to go on your ATC. Lastly, a blank white 2 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. ATC and an ATC sleeve for your completed "Mermaid Beauty" card.

Here is my Steampunk Artist Trading Card!!

Here is my Steampunk ATC guy; gears coming out of his brains and all. Here's how I created my Steampunk Artist Trading Card. The only items not included in this kit was the blue ink, and the rhinestone brad that I used to attach the cream and black clock, and of course my own adhesive. See kit contents below in the previous post.

I distressed the embossed ATC with blue ink to match the blueprint patterned cardstock. I cut a small portion off the ATC, and glued it to the other paper that comes in the kit. I ripped the clock vellum and glued that to the left edge of the ATC. I then glued the Maya Road clock at the top and used a brad to attach the minute hand. Next, I cut out the man, hat, and 2 gear images and glued them to the ATC as shown above. I cut and glued the bingo token image so it would fit onto the charm. I then glued the charm over the man's eyes. Finally I cut around the word, "Steampunk" and glued that and the vintage date watch piece to complete my ATC. I hope you like it! August Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month, "Steampunk".

Here is this month's free Artist Trading Card kit, titled "Steampunk". This was a very fun kit to put together. I found some neat images and embellishments to complete this truly Steampunk ATC kit. This kit will be included free with any order throughout the month of August 2011. There are 2 different 3 in. x 4 in. pieces of paper chosen to go along with this kit. Also included will be a 2 in. x 4 in. piece of vellum paper with clock images. There is also a 2 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. kraft paper ATC that has been embossed with gears which is one of the embossing folders from the Sizzix Artful Muse, Tim Holtz Texture Trades. This will be fun for you to ink and create with! There will be 4 to 5 different collage images to create your Steampunk creation; from hot air balloons, to perfect men to accomplish a cool ATC, some gears and other images. You will surely love the many different images! There will also be either a small or 1/2 of a large Maya Road Cream & Brown Clock and a clock hand included in your kit. (See some examples of these clocks in the photo above). A silver gear rimmed sunglasses charm and a vintage watch number dial (2 shown in the photo to the left of the charm). Lastly, included is a printed Steampunk word using my "Jokerman" themed font, and a white blank artist trading card and an ATC sleeve to complete your kit. July's Free Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month - "On the road again"

Here is the July ATC Kit of the month featuring titled, "On the road again", a travel/vacation themed kit.

Are you ready to hit the road? Well, you will be with this travel themed "On the road again" Artist Trading Card kit that will be placed in orders throughout the month of July. For this July kit I purchased the Trail Blazer and Picnic Table from GCD Studios The Great Outdoors collection. The above paper shows both sides of the paper. You will receive 1 - 4 in. x 3 in. pieces of each. You will also receive a vintage travel image (5 shown in the above photo). I have cut vintage license plates and cars from the Tim Holtz 9 in. x 9 in. License Plates and Transportation cardstock (6 license plates and 3 cars shown in photo). There will be 3 license plates and 1 car in your kit. There are also two 7 Gypsies Mini Label Travel Stickers (4 shown at the bottom of the photo), and a road sign image (3 shown in the photo). A 1 3/8 in. x 1 1/8 in. Mini Library Pocket Diecut has been punched for you from an old road altlas book. A folded and unfolded one is shown in the photo (it comes folded, but not glued in your kit). This diecut is fun to embellish, and then have items sticking out before gluing onto your ATC. Also included is a 7 Gypsies Antique Gold tiny Mini Paper clip and a silver car charm. This kit also comes with an "On the road again" phrase (not shown in photo), blank ATC and an ATC sleeve to place your completed card in.

Bird Nesting Going on in my Backyard as of June 22nd

This is a Cardinal's nest, but no eggs yet. This nest is built in my thorny rose hedge.

In one nesting box I have a family of nesting Eastern Birdbirds. One egg as of June 23rd. This is an Eastern Birdbird egg. It's actually light blue, but the flash is too bright. Daddy bluebird also pictured up in the tree on the photo to the left of the egg.

I have a Wren family nesting in another nesting box. Here are theWren Hatchlings that are only a few days old.

I just wanted to share some nesting images from the nesting boxes in my backyard. These are baby wrens. It hard to believe, but this nest is not even 2 inches in diameter, so you can imagine just how tiny these hatchlings are. There are a total of 6. The proud momma (pictured at the top left) and daddy were scoulding while I was photographing her babies.

I also have another nesting box with a male Wren who continues to sing and sing and sing trying to attract a mate. He has started the nest which the female will complete with her special decorating touches once she accepts him. It's been days but he still hasn't given up yet!

"Sew Fun!" is June's themed free Kit of the Month

Here is an example of the vintage notions (snaps, hooks and eyes), the silver scissors charm and the vintage inspired garment pin (one is close, but I have opened one so you could see that is does open).

For this month's free sewing artist trading card kit, I chose paper from the Donna Salazar's Grandma's Garden Collection, featuring Garden Wedding and Summer Sunshine. The 12 in. x 12 in. paper has been cut into 3 in. x 4 in. pieces. The top 4 paper pieces on the left show 3 different designs from one side, and the back side of the Garden Wedding paper. To the right of that you will see 2 different front designs and 2 different back designs of the Summer Sunshine paper. You will receive two 3 in. x 4 in. pieces, one cut from each of the 12 in. x 12 in. sheets. Also included is a 2 1/2 in. x 4 in. piece cut from a vintage sewing how-to book (2 shown in photo), and a piece of aged tissue paper cut from an actual vintage sewing pattern (1 shown in photo). I purchased mini silver scissors charms and vintage inspired garment pins - you will receive one of each. Also a few vintage notions will be placed into your kit (see the examples in photo 2. There are also 2 different white antique eyelet laces, of which one will be included in your kit, and a vintage piece of orange gathered ribbon that you can stretch and sew onto your artist trading card. Shown also is a variety of vintage sewing images that I have cut from one of my sewing collage sheets. I will include 2 different images for you. Lastly, you will receive a piece of white card stock with the words, Sew Fun! printed using a zigzag font - you can place this anywhere on your sewing ATC. And of course, a blank Artist Trading Card and ATC sleeve will also be placed in this kit. Wow, quite a list!! I'm sure you will enjoy this vintage sewing ATC kit - sew fun!!!

May's Free Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month

Here is the Artist Trading Card Kit for the month of May. Every order this month will receive one of these kits for free. May's kit is titled, "Butterfly, Fly".

For this month I chose paper from Die Cuts with a View. It is the 12" x 12" Mariposa pad with beautiful foil accents and glossy glitter (it is a clear gloss over the glitter); just gorgeous! The photos do not do the paper justice! The 12 in. x 12 in. butterfly paper has been cut into 3 in. x 4 in. pieces. The top 4 pieces shown in the photo are 4 examples of one of the cardstock sheet, and the 4 pieces below that are 4 examples of the other cardstock that I have chosen. You will receive two 3 in. x 4 in. pieces, one cut from each 12 in. x 12 in. sheets. I have purchased 2 different filigree butterfly Charms to go with this kit, one small gold butterfly and one larger bronze butterfly. One of these butterfly charms will be in your kit. I have also included a mini chipboard butterfly. You can glitter it, or paint it, then apply glitter, or just glue paper onto the butterfly - it's your masterpiece, so you can use one those techniques, or choose to use one of your own. There will also be about a 4 inch piece of silver foil German Scrap Dresden French Border, and one of the 4 in. x 1 in. pieces of coordinating paper (either the red or yellow shown above). Lastly, an image of a Victorian butterfly (check out the butterflies laid around the kit in the photo above to see just a few of the butterflies) that has been printed on glossy paper and cut out for you to use on your "Butterfly, Fly" ATC Card. And of course, a blank Artist Trading Card and ATC sleeve will also be placed in this kit. Here is an upclose photo of the paper.

Chalked Parakeets Artist Trading Card - I'll Stand by You

Just having a little fun and wanted to share a new chalking technique. Aqua glittered paper for the background of the Artist Trading Card and for the word backgrounds. This was a color photo that I printed in grayscale so that it was a black and white photo. I then colored it with chalks to bring out the parakeets in the photo. Just choose a chalk shade and then color; it's that simple! Cute little lovebirds - inseparable!

April 2011 Free Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month

Here it is! The free ATC Kit for the month for April 2011 - "Easter Beauties".

You will receive one of these kits with every order placed during the month of April.

This month's theme is for Easter, but isn't filled with bunny rabbits. Instead I have chosen to use vintage Easter Postcards featuring "Easter Beauties". (Only 3 are shown in the above photo). I decided to use paper from the New K & Company 12 x 12 Brenda Walton Flora & Fauna Collection. I have chosen the Die Cut Peonies, and the Aqua Eggs from the same collection. The colors are so soft, yet beautiful. The 12 in. x 12 in. paper has been cut into 3 in. x 4 in. pieces. You will receive one piece from the Die Cut Peonies and one from the Aqua Eggs. Also included is one Easter beauty image cut from our collage sheet. There are 5 different coordinating ribbons, of which 2 will be chosen to go with your kit. I have purchased 2 different Silver Bunny Charms to go with this kit. One of the silver rabbit charms will also be included in your kit. I also decided to go with some clear buttons (there are 3 different sizes; one will be in your kit). I love gluing patterned paper to the back of them (Using epoxy - either Judikins or Ranger's Glossy Accents), and then threading some Irish Waxed Linen through the hole. Sooo, you will also be receiving a 1 in. x 1 in. coordinating burgandy paper piece to glue to your clear button, and also included will be 2 different small pieces of Irish Waxed Linen that you can tie through your button. (one cream and one sage green). There is also a flat-backed 3/4 in. antique brass flower, and 4 cream die-cut pieces (one Easter basket and 4 eggs - these were punched from the Martha Stewart Double Large Easter Basket Punch. And of course, a blank Artist Trading Card and an ATC sleeve to place your completed Easter Artist Trading Card.

Here is a close up of the die-cut Easter basket and eggs, the 2 different silver rabbit charms and the brass flower.

Below is an Artist Trading Card that I made from the April Kit. I decided not to use the flat-backed brass flower on this ATC. I inked the Die-Cut Peonies with a soft burgandy ink and a foam blender to bring out the outlines of the die-cuts. I also colored the basket with markers to create the look of a real basket. I then inked and glittered all 4 eggs before gluing them to the back of the Easter basket die-cut. I then tied one of my ribbons to the top of the basket and cut out the vintage Easter image which I placed and glued behind the basket before gluing it to the card. I made my button, as described below, and added the Easter Rabbit Charm to the waxed linen before knoting it.

"For the Birds"

This month's theme is "For the Birds". I have chosen to use 3 of the Die Cuts with a View Mi Casa Glitter Cardstock and their Mariposa Birdscages with Gold Foil cardstock. You will receive one 3 in. x 4 in. piece of Bird Vine with Glitter cardstock, and a 3 in. x 4 in. piece of Birdcages with Gold Foil cardstock. There is also a 1 in. x 4 in. piece of Mi Casa Bird Stripes with Glitter. I have created and cut some vintage bird pictures from my own stock to go along with this kit. The bird images pictured in the above photo are just a few of the ones that be included in this kit. (You will receive 2 images in your kit). There will also be a few bird feathers, a yellow brad and a silver Birdcage Charm. I have also included some thick brown waxed linen to tie around your ATC or make a nest with it, or even dangle the birdcage charm from it; just use your own creativity. Lastly, there is a blank Artist Trading Card and an ATC sleeve to place your completed creation.

Photos from the Summer Craft & Hobby Show

Hey guys! Just thought you all would enjoy seeing some photos that were taken at the Summer CHA Show that took place July 27-29th, 2010. It was held in Chicago, IL. It was 4 great days of fun, great conversations, crafting and sore feet.

This is the famous ATC artist, Bernie Berlin, author of Artist Trading Card Workshop. She was at the Art-C Booth at the show, a new brand from the C-Thru Ruler Co. The Art-C line is dedicated to mixed media artists and the of course, the ATC sensation. These great Artist Trading Card products that will be shipping in October. I can't wait to get these in amazing products in the store. You can see some of the new products behind us in the photo.

Hum, wonder who this is, LOL?! The incredible Tim Holtz. Oh, and me of course! This was early morning, so I don't look too awake yet. He was autographing his Sizzix, Texture Fades Embossing Folders which I was fortunate to receive; one of which will be given away to one lucky winner in the first yourATCstore October ATC swap/contest. Here is the beautiful Teresa Collins and I in front of her new scrapbooking line. She also has a new jewelry line full of sparkle and bling~ It was fun doiing the make and takes with her new product lines at her booth.

Here is a photo of with Suze Weinberg, one of the Signature Artists at Ranger Industries. Her demos were so neat to watch. She's amazing and fun!

Of course, I had to get my photo taken with Tim again. He also autographed my art apron for the second time; first time was in 2008. Tim's demos were great to watch! I also enjoyed his product samples that he created, as well as seeing and touching all of the new Idea-ology and Ranger products that will be released this Fall.

Sorry Bloggers! Boy, I can't believe it's been so long since I posted last. My store and familylife keeps me pretty busy.

Hi there,

I wanted to clarify my last post on the March St. Patrick's Day Kit.

Normally, the current month's free kits is not put for sale until the following month. I decided to try and put the March kit for sale, as well as giving the same kit away free with everyone's orders. I started running out of things, so I decided to just give it away free and not sell it as well. If anyone would like to purchase extra March kits, then you will have to wait until April 1st. Some changes to the March Kit of the Month

I had such an overwhelming response for the March St. Patrick's Day Artist Trading Card Kit, that I ran out of some of the sequin embellishments I originally included in that kit. My supplies of the large metallic shamrocks, the small green leprochans, and the little pots of gold have been used up. I did find some 1/2 inch green shamrocks the other day, but was unable to repurchase the same St. Patrick's Day sequins. I will be substituting the 1/2 inch shamrocks for the remainder of the month, and will be taking this kit off of sale. I will still be including the small green and gold stars. I'm so sorry for this late change, and if I have disappointed anyone.

January's Free ATC Kit

Geeze, it's almost the end of the month, and I am finally adding this month's free kit. So sorry guys! This is the kit that you will receive for FREE with every order throughout the month of Januray. It's themed "Snow Fun" with vintage ice skaters, snowmen, kids playing in the snow and sledding. I have over 100 different wintertime photos the I used for this kit, so no two kits are alike. Here's what you get:
There are 3 different pairs of cardstock that I've chosen to use with this kit. So you will receive one pair of these 3 in. x 4 in. pieces of cardstock, a vintage wintertime photo cut from our snow collage sheets, 1 - 3 inch piece of coordinating ribbon (4 shown in the photo), also one small piece of grey ribbon that has a snowflake printed on it then the words snow angel, and a tiny square piece that has a snowflake on it. And finally, one small brad in coordinating colors. You will also receive one blank white ATC card to use as your base, and a plastic ATC sleeve to protect your card after you're done with your creation.

Here is a photo of the FREE November ATC kit. The theme is Ancestry. For those newbees, this ATC kit is given to customers for any order they place in the month of November. Although, I have added 3 different colors of Bazzill cardstock to the mix. Here is the list of items that you will receive in your kit: 2 - different pieces 3" x 4" cardstock, a vintage photo, a piece of 1" x 4" matching cardstock, some vintage lace, a cream/white button (they are very old, some 75 years), a clear Acrylic ATC (these are brand new; this way you get a free sample), a blank white 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" card, and lastly, a sleeve to slide your ATC into once you're done. A silver charm will also be included with every order. Don't forget too, you can always some of your own stash when creating your ATC.

So many people have asked if I was going to make a Thanksgiving FREE ATC Kit. So starting on Tuesday, Novemeber 24th, I will be giving away Thanksgiving ATC kits with all orders received through the rest of the month. October's ATC Kit

The theme of this kit is Halloween/Fall. Kits are chosen from the items in the photos.

Above is a photo of all the different items that are available for this month's kit. This FREE Halloween/Fall ATC kit is placed in every order for the month of October. I couldn't fix the yellowish tone of the photo. I will correct this and get a better picture soon.

Here is the list of items that you will receive in your kit:
2 - different 3" x 4" patterned themed Fall/Halloween cardstock (so many different ones this time!), a vintage photo from one of our collage sheets, a piece or 2 of the Halloween/Fall ribbon, a strip of black glitter cardstock cut with zigzag scissors, a black sequin, a few Halloween shaped sequins, (skeleton, flying witch, trick-or-treat etc.), blank white 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" ATC card and a sleeve to place your ATC into once you are done. September's Free Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month

I know, I know, I am so late at getting this on the blog, especially since this month is almost over. I wanted to show this kit anyway for those who might wish to order them from the website.

September's kit is called, "School Days". This kit is what you will receive FREE with every order that you place this month. This kit is also available if you wish to purchase them. Here's what you'll receive:

2 - of the 3" x 4" pieces of cardstock shown

* a part of a page from a vintage children's reading book

* a piece of yellow School Days ribbon or a piece of the black ABC 123 ribbon shown

2 - primary colored mini brads (either red, yellow, blue, green or orange)

2 - vintage school images from the yourATCstore "School Days" collage sheet

* a vocabulary flash card, (word and definition), from a vintage "1000 English Flash Card Set"

1 - blank white 2 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. ATC

and lastly, an ATC card sleeve for your finished masterpiece.

You can also use some of your own supplies like I did when I created mine.

School Days Artist Trading Card

Here is an ATC I created from the products in the kit. I also made the "Grade 1" label with a Dymo Ultimate Label Maker. The ATC is made with a yourATCstore Acrylic Clear Artist Trading Card which will be available for sale soon! I used Alcohol Inks to dye the Acrylic ATC. I then riped the ruler cardstock and the children's reading book scrap diagonally, and glued it onto the acrylic back so the paper could be seen through the ATC. I then added the other things to the front of the ATC to finish it off.

Hopefully, I will post the free October kit so you can take a peek at it. In the meantime, Happy ATC Making!!

August Free Artist Trading Card Kit of the Month

Below is the Free August ATC Kit of the Month that you will receive with every order that you place this month. You will also receive a free charm with your order that I choose especially for you.

You will receive 2 of these sequins. These are so cute that I had to show you a close up of them!

This month's kit is called, "By the Sea". You will receive only 2 of the 3" x 4" pieces of cardstock shown, one piece of blue polka dot ribbon or a piece of the blue flowered rick rack shown, an orange piece of trim, 2 of the 4 sequins shown, one of 3 small flower brads (either silver, gold, or antique copper), one seaside image cut from the yourATCstore "Bathing Beauties" collage sheet, a By the Sea word phrase (See ATCs for example), a blank ATC, and lastly, an ATC card sleeve for your finished masterpiece. You can also use some of your own papers and/or embellishments to accent what you receive in this kit like I did in my examples below.

Here is one ATC that I created from the August kit. I also used a small piece of water cardstock that I cut with zigzag scissors.

Here is another ATC from the kit. You can see that I also used an orange raffle ticket that I had, and a silver shell charm from my personal stock that I attached with the flower brad.

Here I used everything from the kit, but accented the ATC with 2 Prima Mulberry Paper Flowers in coordinating colors.

Here is this month's kit which is free with every order that you place this month. This month's theme is Easter, so everything in the kit relates to the pastel colors of Easter. The 2 - 3" x 4" cardstock pieces on the left may change, and you will be receiving only one of the pieces of ribbon shown. While on Puerto Rico we were visiting Old San Juan. It just so happens that a store owner asked me if I liked Johnny Depp. Dumb question?! He told us he will filming down the street right around the corner at the Old San Juan Hotel. He was filming his new movie, "The Rum Diary". After his filming for the day, he actually came out and greeting all of his fans. This is a photo of him shaking my hand!!! I was so frozen that I didn't say a word to him!!! Of course this was the highlight of my trip! I have more photos of him, but I don't want to bore you with those, LOL!

I can't believe it is the 2009! I hope all of you had an enjoyable Christmas. Whether you were where it was cold and snowy, or sunny and warm, I hope that the true meaning of Christmas warmed your heart. I don't get into New Year celebrations, so I stayed home and welcomed the new year with my family. May 2009 bring you new friends, good health, and peace.
I will upload my Christmas and New Years ATCs over the the weekend.

For those bloggers who might not know, I thought I would tell you, or show you, what gets placed in every order. Every month I pick a theme and create a FREE ATC kit that would go with that month. ie. October was a Halloween kit, December was Christmas. Below is a sample of the free Artist Trading Card kit that you will get with every order in January. You will receive 2 - 3" X 4" pieces of pattern paper, a blank white ATC to use as your base. You will also receive a Vintage snowy collage picture (cut from the yourATCstore Snow Fun Collage Sheet), a few embellishments, a piece of coordinating ribbon and an ATC sleeve to place your ATC in once you have made yours. The products may vary depending on what I put together as the month goes on, but I'm sure you'll have fun with the free kit. Happy Thanksgiving to all! My Thanksgiving ATC using Inkssentials Crackle. Here is a special just for you.

I decided to add some goodies to the NEW 7 Gypsies ATC Tins. I am putting together a special ATC kit for those who purchase any of the new 7 Gypsies Artist Trading Card Tins; one kit for every tin that you buy. For example, if you purchase 3 tins, you will receive 3 special ATC kits, if you purchase 5 tins, you will receive 5 ATC kits and so on. The kit will features baseball cards; these are great to use for a sturdy background; I just cover them with cardstock, and then start creating my ATC. There will also be blank ATCs papers, ATC sleeves, foreign language ephemera and other misc. ephemera, fancy fibers, silver charms, waxed linen, misc. paper pieces, an assortment of embellishments, and whatever else I decided to stick in the kit. Each kit will be different. That way you can get a great assortment of things to help you create your artist trading cards, or other altered art projects. Special lasts until November 30, 2008.

ATC Folding Technique using goodie bag freebie

Hi Guys,

You know I am always give you a free clear bag of ATC goodies with every order that you place. It is usually enough collage type items to create at least 2 ATCs. So today I decided to see what I could come up with using my current "School Days" ATC giveaway pack. (papers to vary) The only other item that I used was the NEW 7 Gypsies ATC Naked Chipboard: File Folder. These are the exact size of an ATC, 2 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in., but the tab makes the back side measure 3 5/8". I also forgot to use the metal anchor. This is what the outside of the file folder looks like:

Here I creased, bent and glued down the 2 outer edges of the matted school teacher. By folding these edges this way you are able to competely close the ATC file folder, and this technique will also keep your ATC file folder from falling over when openned. This is a great folding technique that can be used with any theme that you are working on. If you are interested in the 7 Gypies File Folders they are only $1.93. I purchased these are the Craft and Hobby Show this summer and this adhesive is so wonderful, that I had to share with you. The glueRings are tiny double-sided adhesive diamonds that come on a roll, and you put it on your finger or thumb. Just slide a ring of glue onto your finger and roll it out. Then peel back the liner and press your embellishment, or paper etc. into place. It's so easy and an awesome tool!! I love it because it is so wide, and so much wider than my regular tape runner and it's half the price. It's the perfect tape to tape those hard to reach corners on your ATCs and those small die-cuts and embellishments. It is easily transferable, but also a permanent adhesive. There is also over 25 feet per roll, so this roll will last you a while. Do I sound excited, or what!?! If you purchase one of these and are not happy with it, you can send it back at my expense and receive a full refund. So what do you have to lose?

I just thought I would put a quick note here to let you all know that I am putting on some of the NEW 2008 SUMMER RELEASE stamps. The new single Tim Holtz ATC stamps are currently on order, but I do have the set of 4 ATC stamps together. I also have new Teresa Collins Cling Mount Rubber Stamps. Great for ATCs and for the 7 Gypsies ATC Revolving Holder products. These are perfect for us ATC artists. There is another company that has ATC stamps that I ordered at the CHA Show, but I won't let that cat out of the bag until I have them in my hands. Come by and check them out. Technique Challenge

Mosaic Background ATCs

Here is a new technique you can try. I call it Mosaic Background ATCs. I started with some colorful cardstock. This is a great technique to use up those paper scraps you have laying around. I cut the cardstock into 1 inch strips and then cut the strips into 1 inch squares. Now take a 2 1/2 in. x 3 1/2 in. blank ATC; this can be an old playing card or another piece of cut scrap. You will need to spread craft glue, glue stick, crafting medium etc. onto the whole card. I do it this way so I'm not gluing on one square at a time which takes a lot of time. I put my ATC into my Xyron 500 Create A Sticker (Let me know if you want me to order you one of these sticker makers; they fit a trading card perfectly.), then peel it off the paper. The sticker maker has now added sticker adhesive to one whole side. Now with glue on your whole card.......

Start at the top corner and arrange your cut 1 in. squares onto the ATC. Let the first one hang over a bit. Arrange the rest of them into the color scheme that you want, but remember this is your background, so just have fun placing them in any color order. Once you have placed your last square, turn your ATC over. Next, take your scissors and trim off the paper that is hanging over the edge of your ATC card. You can now stamp on an image, add some doodles or rub-ons. I just stamped on the words, "Live, Laugh, Love"

Now that you have an amazing mosaic background, you can now create your ATC. I added some stacked Prima Flowers and attached it with a white brad. I then cut and attached some poke-a-dot sheer green ribbon under the flower. I stamped the butterfly (stamp by Whipper Snapper) with Stazon ink, colored it with colorful markers to match my background, cut it out, and added a touch of glitter to make it sparkle. I then put a Pop-dot under the butterfly to make it stand out.

I drew my doodles on after I had attached my flower and butterfly. It was an afterthought, and it should have been done before I added the other things. Well, it shows I'm not perfect.

There you go. Give it a try. Post the ATC that you made using the Mosaic Background Technique into the store gallery, or send it to me by email (yourATCstore@comcast.net - mark the email "Mosaic Background", along with your snail mail addy. I will then send you a bunch of the mosaic 1 in. squares that I used in creating this artist trading card. I'll even post a copy of it into the blog; with your permission, of course.

Now is this cool, or what?? Picture this ATC's acrylic album with the protective film taken off. Can you imagine how amazing this would be if it was clear and altered with your ATCs inside. I was a little leary to order this, since it would be a special request. If you're interested, please comment on this post or email me and let me know. If I get enough interest in this ATC acrylic album, I can see about carrying these.

Guess Who?? Tim Holtz at CHA

Here is Tim Holtz at the Ranger Booth. He created all afternoon, giving demos of all of his products. He can do this with his eye closed, he is so good! His artistic ability just shines through whenever he is creating art. Simply incredible!

Here I am talking to Tim about his new ATC stamps. I asked if he could do a monthly challenge with his ATC Stamps for us ATC addicts. He said he would see what he could do. I have my fingers crossed!Here is a picture of Tim and I at his Idea-ology booth. We created necklaces with his embellishment line. After making a few of these I placed an order for his necklaces, rings etc. Once I have them in stock I will post the photos of the necklaces I made, as well as other samples of what you can make with this product line. You will be able to make your own jewelry, or make them to give to friends and family as gifts or Christmas presents.
Here is an ATC that was made with one of Tim's new ATC stamps. And here they are......his 8 NEW ATC STAMPS!!! They are still being made, but as soon as are available I will have them in stock. I'll post the blog once I have them at the store for purchase.

This is Maya Road's Journaling Scroll Coaster Chipboard Book. I purchased these because they are the perfect size for ATCs. The ATC would be glued in the center of the chipboard, so that the scroll can be see all the way around your ATC. There are 6 chipboard pages to the mini album. I thought you'd have a ball with these. And if you don't want to use them for your ATCs, then take a look at some of the other great ideas created with this book.

Here are a few photos showing what I brought back with me. I also receive many new magazines and art books, as well as company catalogs galore. The make & takes are shown in the first photo. The other two photos show the products that I received. I even won at the Making Memories Booth 2:00 daily drawing. I won the new Slice die-cut machine and a MM tabletop organizer in white just for wearing their apron!! I'll get my new Slice when they are released in August. I've never won anything like that before!! It was the highlight of my trip!

This 12 x 12 photo frame was created using Creative Imaginations papers, Asian Fusion, by Marah Johnson. She hosted this make and take and I had her sign the back of my frame. Her signature is in the center of the frame.
This 8 1/2 x 11 photo frame was created using Creative Imaginations Papers. I'm not sure what they are called. We used the foils on both frames which made them beautifully metallic.

Looks like I had fun, huh! I will post more photos tomorrow or Thursday. I ordered so many things and have some neat new products that I can't wait for you all to see. The orders should be starting to come in next week.

I've had a few requests for some spiral clips, so I just added them all to the Metal Works Catagory. This has also been mentioned on the ATC Yahoo Group ATC_World message boards. I'm a member of this wonderful group. Pictured are just a few of the new clips that just arrived. These are being used to attach Artist Trading Cards onto the Manilla Refills Tags for the 7 Gypsies Revolving ATC Holder. This is a great way to attach your ATCs onto the refill tags without needing to punch the rolodex notches out. Using these clips will add color, not to mention it's just a cool embellishment, but it will also making removing your ATCs a breeze. Now you can easily view the artists & swap information on the back of your ATC without losing that information for good. This is a super idea for those artists who don't want to glue their ATCs onto the refill tags so they can remember who and where their ATCs came from.

ATCs I made with 7 Gypsies ATC Transparencies for Holder called Photo Edges

I decided to play around with these new photo edge transparencies, by 7 Gypsies, which are for their Revolving ATC holder. These colorful tranparencies look so amazing layered over ATCs for the holder, so I thought, "I wonder if I could use these colorful transparencies to make regular ATCs?" Soooo, if you don't have one of 7 Gypsies holders, then take a look at what I made. You might want to purchase a package when you see what I've done with four of them.

I covered the two rolodex notches on the left side of the ATC #1 and #2. On ATC #3 and #4, I cut off the left side of the transparency where the rolodex notches were. It gives you just a bit a room to put some extras embellishments, (I used tiny black rick rack on #3), but you can come up with so many other ideas. Or you can center the cut transparency like I did on ATC #4. I really didn't have to come up with too many things to put under the transparency either. Since the transparency decorates your ATCs with its brilliant colors, beautiful borders, words, and amazing designs. I simply added photos from the Leisure Arts Ephemera ATC Card Collections, Funny Quotes and the Military & USA pack, and added the extras to complete all 4 cards.
